Justin Chiderah Ugochukwu (b. 1998,
The Netherlands) is a decolonial artist,
curator, and researcher. He studied
Photography, Film and Digital Arts (BA)
at St. Joost School of Art and Design in
Breda, The Netherlands, and is currently
based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
With an interest in topics such as mutual
aid, Black identity and decolonial
thinking, Ugochukwu defines his artistic
practice as a method of debate and
decolonization. At its core, his work is
rooted in documentary photography, due
to its anthropological and observational
nature, yet it also branches into visual
arts and design through various ways
of methodological research.
Ugochukwu works with media and
materials such as photography, film,
printmaking, and written text, resulting
in installations, sculptural pieces, or
publications. He has also practiced video
jockeying, using this medium as a form
of visual storytelling in nightlife settings.
Since 2025, Ugochukwu has been
a curator and producer for BREEK,
a multidisciplinary art and electronic
music platform that explores the
intersection of the arts, nightlife,
and their societal relevance.
